About us

    

      Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), a polytechnic university, was founded on 15th October 1956. Since its foundation, the university has been one of the best engineering universities in Vietnam. The foundation and development of the School of Electronics and Telecommunications has always been part of HUST’s history.

 

Historical milestones:

-          1956: Faculty of Mechanical-Electrical-Radio frequency Engineering was founded along with the foundation of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

 

-          1959: Graduation of the first promotion majored in Radio frequency after three years of study. These students have then become the leading experts in electronics and telecommunications such as Professor, Doctor of Science Phan Anh, Doctor Ngo Duc Dung, Associate Professor Kieu Vinh Khanh, Professor Tran Duc Han, etc.

 

-          1967: Department of Radio frequency Engineering was upgraded into Faculty of Radio frequency Engineering comprising of three units: department of the Fundamentals of Radio frequency, department of Radio frequency Engineering and a Workshop for Radio frequency.

 

-          1984: The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electronics was founded by merging the faculty of Radio Frequency Engineering and the faculty of Electrical Engineering.

 

-          1987: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electronics was divided into six different faculties including the two founding faculties of the present School of Electronics and Telecommunications.

 

-          1994: Faculty of Communications Engineering and faculty of Electronics and Information Technology were merged together to found the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications.

 

-          2010: Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications was changed into the School of Electronics and Telecommunications.

 

Today, School of Electronics and Telecommunications has over 110 staff including 80 post-graduate lecturers with 9 Associate Professors and 40 PhDs. Every year, the School trains 500 regular students, 200 Master students and 10 PhD candidates. In addition, the school also carries out 5 national scientific projects, protocols, over 10 ministerial scientific projects, many researches as well as technology transfer projects funded by state-own, private and foreign companies.

Along with the continuous development of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, School of Electronics and Telecommunications is actively implementing programs to renovate all the fields such as education, scientific research and facilities. Curriculum and instructional approaches are fully redesigned toward a modern and diversifying direction. Besides, the school opens special under-graduate programs (Talented Engineers and Advanced program) and post-graduate programs (Master and Doctorate). Apart from teaching activities, all the lecturers also carry out research projects that are currently developed and enhanced by international collaborations. All the facilities and equipments dedicated to education, training and research have been continuously improved and completed. The school is also implementing a new management mechanism towards autonomy and self-responsibility. A friendly and attractive environment for studying, working and scientific research was created for students and highly qualified lecturers.
