Introduction

Considered as one of the “hottest” branches in the 21st century, the specialty of biomedical electronics was established in 1999 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology in accordance with the development requirements of society. With references to advanced education models of developed countries in the world, a new education model for Biomedical electronics in Vietnam was formed. In this new model, students first learn basic knowledge in the general education program at the university, then they continue with a specialty training period. The specialty training period includes fundamentals of Electronics and Telecommunications such as Electronic Circuit Engineering, Digital Engineering, Microprocessor, Electronic Components, Measurement and Automatic Control; Information Technology such as Programming Languages, Software Engineering, Databases, Data Structures, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks. Next are courses on Biomedical Electronics including Bioelectricity Fundamentals, Bio-signal Processing Circuits, Diagnostic Imaging, Sensors and Measurement Techniques in Medicine, Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy, Medical Information Systems, Medical Electronic Equipment, Medical Image Processing, Radiation Protection and Electrical Safety in Medicine and Medical Equipment Design.
